Annie McCubbin and Friends Exhibition – 30 April – 4 July 2020
Experience the diversity of portraits held within the Whitehorse Art Collection, from our first acquisition in 1927 to contemporary. The star and inspiration for this exhibition is Frederick McCubbin’s portrait of his wife Annie painted in 1910. Annie frequently modelled for McCubbin’s figures in the landscape, yet we see her portrayed here in a formal manner. Contributing to this celebration of portraits are local artists from the Box Hill Art Group and the Whitehorse Arts Association. Their inclusion continues the tradition of artists painting in the Box Hill area and provides an overview of the personalities that make up our community.
