We are racing towards the end of the year and hope you have had a rewarding year.  Important for our community is the 2024 AGM, to be held on the 7th December at 2pm with a lovely shared afternoon tea. We have very interesting options for you in November – exciting things to try while preparing for the December and January break. 2025 is waiting for you, to make the most of your time, your interests and to build your skills.
For those who would like to become more involved in our Art Group you are invited to join the Committee. The meetings next year will be 1pm, monthly.

New Term 4 Class Offering!

Paint & Chat – Saturdays 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Following our long running and popular Wednesday afternoon Paint and Chat, you are invited to join us on Saturday afternoons for another Paint and Chat. Factor into your weekend this social time with friends as you work away on your own art projects. Pay only $6 on the day, no need to book just turn up.
Once a month this room (and time) is used for life drawing. This month Saturday life drawing is booked for 16th November. For more details click HERE

New Term 4 Class Offering!

All Things Drawing – with Craig Rawlings – Tuesday 7:30 – 9:30 pm

Techniques for approaching mark making.

No experience necessary. We will explore areas like: 

  • Rendering.
  • Values 
  • Line and form
  • Directional stroke 
  • Contour 
  • Negative space 
  • Lost edges 
  • Perspective 
  • Proportion
  • Urban sketching 
  • Life drawing 
  • Movement 

Using graphite, pencil, pens, coloured pencil, ink, pen and wash, and charcoal. If you can draw with it we will give it a go. The last two weeks of term is turning one of your drawings into a painting .

Monday morning – Farimar Eshraghi

No matter what media you are interested in Farimah can help you. Farimah has taught countless people to paint and draw. 

Come along to this friendly Monday morning class and start your week with an inspirational art experience.

You will work on your own art project with support from Farimah.

What do I bring?

Bring along your own paints/pastels/pencils, brushes and paper/canvas (new or unfinished project) – whatever materials you have.

Tuesday Afternoon – Aimee Li
1pm – 3pm – Fundamental Watercolour

Do you struggle with achieving the right darkness or find your paintings lack life and light? Perhaps you’re uncertain about planning a painting from start to finish or tackling more complex subjects despite knowing watercolour techniques?Aimee’s Fundamental Watercolour class is designed to guide you through these challenges, focusing on fundamental techniques and providing expert instruction and supportive feedback. Whether you’re a beginner or someone looking to refine and expand your skills, this course will equip you with the confidence to create stunning watercolour paintings. Join us and transform your frustration into artistic fulfillment.

Wednesday Evening – Natalie Doubrovski

Art Voyage – Create with Natalie

In this class Natalie will help beginning and intermediate artists to elevate their art to new levels. Natalie will assist you in exploring various media underpinned by good drawing techniques in a supportive and friendly environment.

Term 4 will be all about the amazing colourful media of oil pastels. Oil pastels can be used for drawing or painting or for adding extra interest to mixed media pieces. Different subjects are going to be used in art creation.

In this class Natalie will help beginning and intermediate artists lift their art to new levels.

Life Drawing

SATURDAY & WEDNESDAY

Life Drawing

Our professional models are sourced from The Life Models Association. November sessions are Saturday 16th and Wednesday 20th. Our male model for both sessions is John.. 

Develop and hone your drawing skills at our monthly two hour life drawing sessions with Box Hill Art Group. You will find great professional models and friendly fellow artists. All levels of ability are welcome. Cost $25 per session. The sessions are untutored.
Bring your own paper and drawing materials, (tables, easels, boards, coffee tea and biscuits) are provided.

Standard protocol for Life Drawing: please arrive before the starting time of the session. There is no immediate entry for late comers, wait outside for the first poses to finish (20 minutes) when the door will be opened for you.
Mobile phones must be stowed and muted during the entire session.

Paint and Chat

WEDNESDAY 1 – 3pm

SATURDAY 1:30 – 3:30pm

On Wednesday and Saturday a group meet in Drycraft West to paint and chat except for once a month when the room is reserved for life drawing, applicable for both the Wednesday and Saturday sessions. It’s a friendly atmosphere so come along and join us. This is an all media session.

Only $6 on the day.
